A lucky fan armed with a poster and a dream was pulled on-stage by Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins to duet on the Queen and David Bowie classic.
After a week off to rest his voice, Dave Grohl and the Foos were back at it over the weekend. During the portion of the show where Grohl and Hawkins switch roles for a cover song, one woman's dream came true.
Madi Duncan of Vancouver wore a Queen shirt to the show, and she held up a poster asking to duet with the band. Hawkins noticed her and invited her up! And as it turns out, Madi sings in a band so the two of them sounded pretty damn good together! Plus seeing Dave Grohl back behind the drum kit, and I could watch him pound the skins all day. Their performance starts around the 4:25 mark, but Dave and Taylor's banter leading up to that moment is pretty entertaining.
Foo Fighters - Under Pressure - Vancouver - September 8th 2018 - Rogers Arena - With Fan Madi Duncan
The Fan is invited onstage Approximately 3-3:30min into the video.
Also, give it up for Taylor's Freddie Mercury impression during the vocal warm-up call-and-response schtick. That was pretty spot on! Of course, Taylor fronts the cover band Chevy Metal when not busy with the Foos, so folks familiar with his talents know running through rock classics comes easy for him.
