New Politics Joins 'Rock The Roots' Lineup

Young The Giant and Milky Chance also play the festival this Saturday.

Do you like cider? Do you like good music? Then hitting up 'Rock The Roots' at City Hall Plaza this Saturday seems like a no brainer.

A trio of well-known alt-rock bands sits atop the 'Rock The Roots' bill for its Boston stop, not to mention all the food, drinks, games, and partying that cool festivals usually bring.

I predict Young The Giant will pepper a few new songs into their set since their new album Mirror Master arrives in October. Earlier this summer they shared two new tracks to the web. Maybe they share more new stuff we haven't heard? Then again, many artists are increasingly hesitant of sharing new tracks ahead of albums. Though a greatest-hits kinda set filled with tracks like "Cough Syrup", "My Body", and "It's About Time" would be awesome.

German pop duo Milky Chance and their memorable track "Stolen Dance" appear next on the bill. That worldwide hit landed back in 2013, but they also put out an album called Blossom last year.

And the always exciting trio New Politics are more recent additions to the lineup. If you've never seen them before, know that David Boyd is a pure entertainer. Not only is he a great singer and charasmatic frontman, but Boyd also got his start as a breakdancer. New Politics blends punk rock with pop and dance music across their prolific catalogue - they've averaged a new album just about every other year.

And get there early for buzzy, Boston-based hip hop duo STL GLD (pronounced 'Still Gold') who open the show.

Tickets start at $55, but you can score a discount if you pick up a 4-pack. Details here.
