Year in Review: Mike Shinoda's New Song For Chester Bennington

'Tis the season for Christmas lights, mistletoe, The Bosstones annual Hometown Throwdown at the House of Blues AND another year in review.

2017 was a tough one for us lovers of rock music.  Lots of big talents gone too soon.

Chris Cornell, Tom Petty, Malcom Young, and the list goes on and seemingly on.  But you truly can't have a 2017 year in review without mentioning Chester Bennington. There was a good (not great) tribute concert in Chester's memory this October in L.A. and perhaps what struck me the most about it, was the realization of how his BANDMATES actually took the news of Chester's death.  This song was written by Mike Shinoda shortly after Chester took his own life.  He performs it simply and beautifully at their show at the Hollywood Bowl and it wasn't only the highlight of the concert but it really does say how his bandmates feel.

ICYMI: Here is Mike doing his beautiful song for Chester exposing his grief and his own vulnerability.  This is "Looking for an Answer":
