Metallica Under Fire For Album Cover Design

You would think news of a new Metallica album would bring joy, but there’s already some controversy surrounding the album’s cover.

Many people are saying that the cover of Metallica’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct bares a striking resemblance to Crowbar’s 1998 release Odd Fellows Rest, which singer/guitarist Kirk Windstein pointed out in a recent Facebook post.

This is Kirk...In all fairness, after touring with the mighty Metallica, while in DOWN...I know the fellas know who CROWBAR is...however, i seriously...

As if that weren’t enough, many are also adding the Foo Fighters’ cover to 2011’s Wasting Light into the mix!

Like Windstein said, Metallica themselves probably had little to do with the album cover design, but whoever designed it does have some explaining to do.

In the meantime, can’t we just enjoy how awesome the band’s lead single “Hardwired” is?!  Isn’t that what we should really be caring about the most?
