Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, Elton John and Evel Knievel might seem like strange bedfellows, but they now have something in common.
Slash has recorded a new version of John's "Rocket Man" -- with his regular band Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators -- for a Kickstarter campaign to fund stuntman Eddie Braun's upcoming attempt to recreate Knievel's failed 1978 attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon in Idaho. Anyone donating to Braun's campaign will receive a download of Slash's "Rocket Man" after the jump is attempted on September 17.
Braun writes on Kickstarter that, "I approached the rock icon Slash, who I knew to be an Evel Knievel fan, and asked if he would be interested in being involved with my rocket project. He gave us the most awesome gift we could ever dream; a theme song."
Braun will be riding a 10,000hp rocket christened Evel Spirit and plans to livestream the jump attempt.
