Could Another GN’R Member Be On His Way Out?

DJ Ashba may not be the only guitarist who's left Guns N' Roses recently.

The status of Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal has been up in the air since last year, when he announced he would be "focusing on his solo career" -- including a new album, Little Brother is Watching, and membership on the band Art of Anarchy. He's kept his situation in GNR deliberately vague, saying at one point he was "honoring a request to not make any public statements" about the group.

Read between the lines, then, when Bumblefoot tells us, "That is the thing I am not to elaborate on. I think there's enough clues out there for you to figure out what I'm up to now. I'm a real busy guy and really enjoying everything I'm doing, and I think that everything I'm doing has a future and a bigger plan -- the solo stuff, the other bands, the producing, the charity and educational things I'm doing. These are all the things I love that I've really missed, and I'm very happy to be putting my time back into that. It's really what I should be doing."

Bumblefoot joined GNR in 2006 in place of the departed Buckethead and plays on the 2008 "Chinese Democracy" album. If he's out of the band, that leaves only one guitarist, Richard Fortus, who's currently touring with GNR keyboardist Dizzy Reed in the Dead Daisies. Fortus has recently predicted a GNR release in 2016.
