Will Panic! At The Disco Go Heavy Metal?

Brendon Urie wants the next Panic! at the Disco album to be a heavy metal album and we're feeling very confused about it!

Panic! recently took home an Artist Of The Year trophy from the Rock Sound Awards. And well-deserved, too. With "High Hopes" they finally matched "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" in terms of mainstream pop attention. The track cracked the top 5 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart!

So what's next? If frontman Brendon Urie has his way, the next Panic! at the Disco album might go heavy metal! He spoke with Rock Sound:

“I always feel as though I need to be more diverse... I still have so many different things that I want to do, particularly in terms of genres... I want to do a metal project in particular. I actually just played something for my band mates recently - we have an old song called ‘The Calendar’ and I made a metal version of it from years back. It’s like 90 seconds long and is really fun. Who knows, I might even put that out on SoundCloud on a whim some time soon!”

In the meantime you can listen to the album version of "The Calendar" from the band's 2011 album Vices & Virtues. Can you imagine a metal version of this?

While artists might want to explore new genres, are fans really interested? Are you at least curious to hear what a Panic! At the Disco metal song would sound like?
