Bastille recruited electronica producer Marshmello to further their pop ambitions, and we get some more new music details.
One scan through the "Pompeii" band's career output proves the band doesn't shy away from collaboration and experimentation. “We’ve been having a great time writing for other artists in and amongst making our Bastille albums and mixtapes,” frontman Dan Smith said.
About a year ago, the band wrote much of "Happier" and felt it would make a great collaboration. Added Dan, “We had a lot of fun working on it with Marshmello, who managed to find joy in the melancholy. It’s always good to step into somebody else’s world for a minute.”
Furthermore, Dan told NME he wants to release more music, more quickly because people's listening habits have changed. He also revealed the band's third album will be called Doom Days. Presumably, "Quarter Past Midnight" will be on that record. As for "Happier", folks speculate it will land on the next installment of Bastille's remix series Other People's Heartache, Part 4. But since Marshmello's name headlines the track, I'm not so sure.
