Dave Grohl Brings Fan On Stage In Australia And He Shreds - Amy Brooks

When a fans is invited on stage to play with their favorite band it HAS got to be an adrenaline rush like no other.  I've seen it done before, for example Billie Joe Armstrong does this at many a Green Day show (if not all of their shows), but somehow this was especially epic.

Foo Fighters have been touring in Australia, and during their stop at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane Dave Grohl spotted a 22 year old, dressed in black, with a sign that read "I can play Monkey Wrench" which was apparently all Dave needed to take the leap to have him do it.  Perhaps the fact that this kid, Joey McClennan, also looked an awful lot like Dave helped get him a ticket to the stage, I don't know.  handpicked 22-year-old Aussie Joey  to come up on stage with the band.

Joey you legend from the crowd!

"Come on kid, get on up here right now, but are you sure you can play it?" asked Dave, “The last thing you want to do is come up here and shit the bed in front of 40,000 people in your home town.”

Haha so true.  But as you can see and hear from the footage above, there was no question Joey knew how to play.  After they poured cold water over Joey during his impressive performance, Grohl told him:

“Joey, I like your style… black T-shirt and black pants.”

A 22-year-old from Everton Hills is still buzzing after he was chosen from the crowd at Suncorp Stadium last night to play with the @foofighters @MaxFutcher #7News https://t.co/2OZ57OS1dj

He was awesome, this whole thing is awesome.  I think that's part of why I like Dave Grohl.  It's just not complicated to make a person's day.

No rehearsal no guitar.  And he was wicked good!  Way to go Joey!!

Either that or it's truly THAT simple to play in a rock band  😉
