Deer Visits 81-Year Old Woman Twice a Day for a Snack

Like most people, 81-year-old Mette Kvam has a best friend, but her’s a little different.

Her pal is a will deer named Flippen who shows up on “her doorstep twice a day looking for some grub” states Inside Edition. Kvam currently lives alone in Aurland, Norway, so she does not mind her new friend stealing her snacks. For over three years, Flippen has arrived at Kvam’s doorstep for snacks and for a few head rubs.

Back in 2014, her friendship began with the furry creature. She offered him a cookie and, much to her surprise, he accepted the offer. Ever since that cookie-sharing moment, the two have been inseparable. According to the Good News Network, the deer now shows up each day in order to accept food from his friend. Kvam’s family friend Britt Haugsevje Vangen state that she could not be happier and that “they are so lucky for having each other.”

Wild Deer Climbs To Elderly Woman's Window Twice a Day For a Snack

An incredible moment caught on camera shows a huge deer climbing up the side of a woman's house as she reaches out to pet and feed him from her window. The wild stag has visited the woman's home in Norway twice a day for a year.

In an interview with Caters News, Britt went on to say that “Mette has no kids and since her husband passed away, she has no one - she only has Flippen in her life now.”

Generally, wildlife experts recommend humans to not feed deer. According to Post Gazette, a deer’s “digestion is a finely tuned physiological process. As the seasons change, deer diet also changes.” Their new season diet just does not happen overnight. Deer obtain “the right combination of microorganisms, enzymes and pH” in order to allow them a healthy diet.

Scientists highly recommend to not feed a deer corn. If you do so, this will make a “deer’s first stomach acidic, destroying the microbes needed for normal digestion” says Post Gazette. The animal will also become high addicted to human food once fed and will start to rely on the treats.

However, in Kvam’s case, we think she gets a pass. Her friendship with the deer has even saved his life! According to Britt, the local hunters have noted which deer is Flippen and have made sure he is safe.
