Mike Einziger on Incubus’ New Studio Album

Out today (April 21) is 8, the appropriately titled eighth album by Incubus.

It's the group's first new full-length since 2011's If Not Now, When?, though it did release the Trust Fall (Side A) EP during 2015. The set was produced with Dave Sardy, but electronic artist Skrillex came in towards the end to give 8 a sonic overhaul.

Guitarist Mike Einziger tells us that, like Incubus' other albums, it's ambitious and wide-ranging, which is what the band always has in mind:

"This album is very much an Incubus album in 2017. To me it sounds really exciting and modern, but at the same time it really sounds like us. It doesn't exactly sound like we're trying to sound like one specific thing; It's just us being us in this sort of, just in this current period of time, which is really vague I know but I think that people who have been following our music, I think that when they hear the album they'll understand what I'm talking about."

8's first single, "Nimble Bastard," has already gone Top 10 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart. Incubus will be touring throughout the year to promote "8," including a summer run with Jimmy Eat World and Judah and the Lion.
