A Tribute To Dave’s Mom

Legally she was Dorothy Mengering, but to fans of The Late Show with David Letterman, she was simply known as “Dave’s Mom.”

Mengering passed away last night (April 11) at the age of 95 the day before Letterman’s 70th birthday.  Mengering’s most popular appearances on The Late Show included “Guess Mom’s Pies,” where Letterman would broadcast via satellite the unveiling of the pies Mengering made for Thanksgiving, and her trips abroad covering the Winter Olympics.

Letterman paid tribute to his beloved mom in 2015 for Mother’s Day in a montage that included some of her most memorable Late Show moments.  We couldn’t think of a better way to honor Mengering ourselves.
