Brandon Boyd Talks New Incubus Single

Incubus is making lots of noise these days with "Nimble Bastard," the first single from 8, the group's first full album since 2011's If Not Now, When?

The title, of course, sounds like it's a diss track, but frontman and lyricist Brandon Boyd tells us he's actually complimenting the song's subject:

"There are a couple of people that I've experienced in my life in the past, and also sort of currently, that I look up to very much for a number of reasons. But I think in this case I look up to them for their ability to always land on their feet...It could be under the most seemingly horrific circumstances...the lowest low you can possibly imagine, and you see them a couple of days later and they break through to the other side and they use that failure or sequence of failures to truly become a better version of themselves. So when I say 'you're a nimble bastard' I'm using it as a term of endearment, and I'm basically saying, 'Will you show me how you, how do you do that?' Like, I wish I could do that."

The 8 album is due out April 21, and Incubus will be performing at Welcome! -- A Fundraising Concert For The ACLU on April 3 in Los Angeles, followed by a North American tour that begins July 6 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
