WATCH: Pentatonix Covers Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"

Pentatonix is a 5 person vocal group from Arlington, Texas.  They are also one of the a capella groups I actually remember seeing on one of the seasons of The Sing Off On NBC.  Sure enough upon further investigation they actually won the third season of the show back  in 2011, earning them $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony.

They do plenty of covers and their sound does resonate, no matter the style of music you prefer, largely because of their true talent.  I mean, their voices together are stirring and goose-bump producing.  Now insert one of the greatest songs written, one which has been covered hundreds of times since it's release in 1984, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"  which is featured on the vocal quintet’s new album, A Pentatonix Christmas. and is officially going viral.

But WAIT!  There's more! This Grammy-winning a cappella group was just asked to sing the opening theme song for NBC's Thursday Night Football!  Which seems crazy to this football fan, but ok, wow!  That's a pretty cool addition to their young resume.

According to NBC, Pentatonix will sing the track "Weekend Go" which is a spin off of the their original song "Sing" from their 2015 self-titled album.

NBC will produce nine Thursday night games that will use Pentatonix's song and air on NBC or the NFL Network. The first game is on Nov. 3 when the Atlanta Falcons visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the NFL Network.

MY request?  Do a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit.  😉

Great news for a great group of talented singers.  Good luck Pentatonix.
