New Temple Of The Dog Album Possible

Temple of the Dog has one album and they never toured.  This past April marks the 25th anniversary of the release of their one and only self titled album with which so many of us fell in love.  Although initially surprising, it seems fitting that the original members of the 1990 "super group" would get out and tour this year.

Nov. 4 & 5      — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Tower Theater)
Nov. 7             — New York, New York (Madison Square Garden)
Nov. 11 & 12  — San Francisco, California (Bill Graham Civic Center)
Nov. 14           — Los Angeles, California (The Forum)
Nov. 20 & 21 — Seattle, Washington (Paramount Theater)

It's not lost on me that there are no Boston dates.  Hey - hope springs eternal...

Anyway, with the knowledge of this mini tour, we all know they've been rehearsing, which begs the question: will there be any NEW material?  And if there is...will there be a new album?

Here, Chris Cornell, Jeff Ament, and Mike McCready spoke about the possibility of a second Temple of the Dog album in a recent Rolling Stone article.

According to the article:

Chris Cornell says: There’s always a chance [we’ll record more songs.] Just from my perspective, it would have to feel great. It’s a scary thing. I don’t want to say it would have to live up to the [first] album, but I wouldn’t want to take away from it. That’s the issue with me. I don’t want to detract from what happened before.

Jeff Ament says: I just don’t know. That record is so unique in terms of what initiated it. But I love recording, so I’d always be up for it, I think. As far as more touring, it depends how we feel after the first set of dates. If everyone is excited, it might become a thing we do every once in a while. We can call each other up and say, “Hey, we just got an offer to plan London,” or something. That would be fun.

Mike McCready says: I hope we record again. It all depends on Chris and Chris’ interest. But I would record new songs in a minute. There hasn’t been any talk of it, but if Chris is into it and so are the rest of the guys, I’m totally into that.

In the meantime, Temple of the Dog JUST released it's remastered 25th anniversary super deluxe edition of their amazing 1991 original album. Get details and purchase info HERE.

Is it too much to ask for TOTD to give us new material, a new album AND a tour stop in Boston?

Like I said hope springs eternal.
