Guy Sets Up GoFundMe To “Buy Dave Grohl,” Wackiness Ensues

This would be one hell of a Mother's Day present!  Check this out!!!  Raising $$ to BUY Dave Grohl?  Why didn't I think of that??  -Amy

We’ve all seen a number of strange fundraisers online in recent history, but this might be one of the first times someone has raised money to purchase an entertainer.

A GoFundMe page was created this week by Frank Pain, a radio personality out of Abilene, Texas, titled “Help me Purchase Dave Grohl” in an attempt to not so much as purchase the Foo Fighters frontman but to provide some levity in our social media feeds, which have been seemingly flooded with the circus that has been our upcoming Presidential election and other hot-button topics.

In an update on said GoFundMe page, Pain wrote, “In short, I did this as a joke – merely to distract everyone from all the divisiveness that’s rampant on social media.  I never thought anyone would donate to this.”

At time of publishing, the page has collected $1,074.

Pain went on to write that all money donated to the page would be given to Autism Speaks.

Regardless if this stunt leads to Pain meeting Grohl, its intentions came to fruition.  We bet you didn’t think about all of the crazy crap going on around us, even if it was for a few minutes.  On top of that, money was raised for charity.  Kudos, Frank!  Your random idea did some good!
