Metallica’s Original Manager Reveals Early Potential Lineup Change

Imagine Lars Ulrich fronting Metallica, instead of James Hetfield.  (We’ll wait while you ponder that situation…)

As crazy as that situation sounds, that change was mulled over early in the band’s career, according to a recent interview with their original manager.

Per Metal Hammer, Jon “Jonny Z” Zazula said that at the beginning, Hetfield “wasn’t the most confident of singers” and that, “At one point there was even talk of Lars becoming the frontman.  For about five seconds.”

Perhaps we’re exaggerating, but that must’ve been the strangest five seconds EVER!  Without Hetfield, we wouldn’t have all of those amazing “Yeah” supercuts!  (Currently, YouTube yields “about 6,800 results” for the search of “Metallica James Hetfield Yeah.”)

Oh…and I guess he’s a decent vocalist and guitarist.  So, he has that going for him, too.

Zazula didn't say who would be 'Tallica's drummer if Ulrich ended up fronting the band, but this crazy instance is enough to think about for just one day.
