Jack White announced he'd be taking a hiatus from his solo career earlier this year -- but not necessarily from music. So it's no surprise that the prolific auteur is returning to band world to release the third album with his all-star Dead Weather, titled Dodge & Burn, in September.
It will be the first album from the quartet -- which also features the Kills' Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita of Queens of the Stone Age and Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs and the Greenhornes -- since 2010's Sea of Cowards, though the Dead Weather has released four tracks through White's Third Man Records Vault subscription service, during the interim.
The Dead Weather has posted an album sampler online, and those joining the Vault service by July 31 will get a deluxe edition of Dodge & Burn, a seven-inch single and a deck of Dead Weather playing cards.
The group is not planning to tour in support of the album, holding to White's other pledge to stay off the road for the time being.
