Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats played Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston Friday June 8 and ALT 92.9 was there to witness the soul, R&B, funk, and rock and roll of it all.
The 5,000 strong crowd experienced eight real musicians playing real music on a beautiful early Summer night. There was singing, dancing, and clapping by young folks, old folks, couples, squads, and plenty of dudes who looked like they just got off work at their brewery shift.
The Nightsweats played old favorites ("S.O.B" "I Need Never Get Old") and some new sing-alongs ("You Worry Me") from their new album Tearing At The Seams. And if you're going to do a cover, it might as well be epic: Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City"
Before the show, the band graciously said hi to several ALT 92.9 listeners backstage, and then Nathaniel and Joseph Pope III sat down with listener Maria D to discuss life on the road, the music industry, musical inspiration and more. Listen 'till the end to hear their very Boston sign off!
Awesome job Maria! (Note: The interview was recorded in the backstage dining hall, so enjoy the authenticity of life on the road, background noise and all.)
