When I heard it was Lionel Richie's 68th birthday I HAD to put this out there, mainly because Faith No More's cover of The Commodores' 1977 hit song "Easy", HAS to be one of my personal all time favorite covers, ever.
Maybe it's the guitar, maybe it's Mike Patton's voice, maybe it's both because Faith No More can pretty much do whatever they feel like. Idk. All I know is, like one YouTube comment states, "that IS one of the best 'ewwwws' in music!"
But it does still beg the question...who did it better?
Because let's face it, a great cover is largely the result of just an epically great song. (Did any Faith fans get my 'epic' reference??) 😉
As for Lionel's feelings on Faith No More's version when asked if he liked it he said:
I was actually quite flattered about the song. Yes, I loved it!
