Stone Temple Pilots have been looking for a new singer since last year after Chester Bennington exited the group. The split was amicable and civil, but we didn’t really know why Bennington left until now.
In a recent interview with New York’s Q104.3, Bennington said he left STP to spend more time with his children, because they would get upset when he’d tour with them, as opposed to Linkin Park. Bennington’s children understood that dad’s in a band and they tour, but they thought once LP took a break from the road, they’d get to see him more.
“…When I’d leave with STP, they’d cry. I think they thought I was choosing to do that over being at home with them. It was just too hard on my family.”
We assume he’s talking about his three youngest children (a ten-year-old son and six-year-old twin daughters) with current wife Talinda Ann Bentley. He has three other children from two previous relationships at the ages of 20, 19 and 14 and are old enough to understand their father’s career commitments.
However, we may know why Bennington joined STP in the first place: He has six kids! That’s a lot of mouths to feed!
Clearly, someone has active swimmers.
