Seems like this weekend saw a couple of interesting “reunions” from the likes of Stone Temple Pilots and Smashing Pumpkins.
First up, Chester Bennington rejoined STP for a one-night-only charity show benefitting Palos Verdes Peninsula Public Schools. Bennington amicably split from the band in November 2015 to better focus on Linkin Park, which led to STP launching a search for a new lead singer on their website.
Perhaps the biggest reunion from this weekend came via the March 26th Smashing Pumpkins show in Los Angeles where former guitarist James Iha joined the band on stage for the first time since December 2000. Iha performed a number of songs from the set list including “Mayonaise,” “Soma,” “Rocket,” “Spaceboy,” “Today,” “Whir,” “Disarm” and even came back out for the entire encore of a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Angie,” “Amarinthine” and “Happy Birthday” in honor of his own birthday that night.
