With the Smashing Pumpkins/Marilyn Manson “End Times” tour in full swing, obviously Billy Corgan is making the rounds in media, and to the surprise of no one, he had some pretty interesting things to say.
Corgan spoke with Entertainment Weekly and sounded off on the state of alternative music, and, frankly, he’s not impressed.
“If you look at most alternative rock music in 2015, it hasn’t really evolved for 20 years,” said Corgan. “We get our asses kicked by EDM or some of these artists that are more keyboard and drum machine and reverb. They’re engaging in new technology. Guitar isn’t new technology—there are only so many ways you can warp it around. Radiohead was probably the last band that really did anything new with the guitar.”
Huh…we bet that’s totally going to sit well with alt. rock artists! However, that quote still wasn’t as awkward as this recent fan Q&A Corgan took part in during a stop in Colorado.
Some fan thought it would be a good idea to ask Corgan if he though Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. Spoiler alert: It wasn’t a good idea. Talk about awkward!
Talk about awkward!
To end this round-up on a less tension-filled note, here’s a picture of Corgan that’s gone viral of him riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland.

Naturally, it begs the question: “Who scowled better: Corgan or Jack White?”

And I thought the upcoming 2016 Presidential election was going to be a tough race! The choice between these photos is certainly one for the ages!
