This is probably the only time a celebrity wishes stuff on their phone was backed up to the cloud.
Metallica’s Kirk Hammett recently appeared on the podcast “The Jasta Show” hosted by Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta where he revealed that he lost his iPhone earlier this year that contained around 250 riffs and other ideas meant for Metallica’s upcoming album. (You can listen to that heartbreaking tale around the 27:00 mark in the podcast below.)
“I lost [the phone]. I just plain lost it. I can't find it. I'm still looking for it to this day. I just set it somewhere and… It still might turn up. I'm hoping it will. To try to remember those riffs…? I can only remember, like, eight of 'em,” said Hammett.
Eight out of 250?! No wonder it’s taking the band forever to follow up Death Magnetic!
While the chances of finding Hammett’s iPhone might be slim, we sincerely hope this story has a happy ending and the phone (along with all the riffs) somehow gets returned.
