We've been buying music from Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong for more than 25 years. Now we'll be able to buy musical instruments from him, too.
Armstrong has announced an April 3 opening for Broken Guitars, a music shop at 423 40th St. in Oakland that he`s opening with Bill Schneider, Armstrong's former bandmate in the group Pinhead Gunpowder. Schneider previously owned the Univibe music store in Oakland, which closed in 2011. The Broken Guitars name was inspired by a photo of the Who's Pete Townshend smashing his axe.
Armstrong is also preparing for Green Day's April 18 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has a featured role in the new film Like Sunday, Like Rain, which opens March 13.
